One week before Domestic Violence Awareness Month kicks off, Mary joined the Crime Survivors Speak March in Washington DC, put on by the Alliance for Safety and Justice and Crime Survivors for Safety and Justice. The event brought together thousands of survivors of violent crime including domestic violence, homicide, and gun violence. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Victims of Crime Act, the 30th anniversary of the Violence Against Women Act, and the 20th anniversary of the Crime Victims Rights Act; however there is still much work to be done.

A similar case I heard of and the guy was found not guilty in a domestic violence murder. I forgot who thought of a great idea to charge the guy with violating the victim's civil rights. That's how the guy was finally convinced and sentenced to life without a possibility for parole. Some how can someone please bring this to the prosecutor's office in hopes that this demon doesn't see the light of day
